Objective 5

 

Practice with an understanding of human rights and social justice by engaging in systematic social change to alleviate economic deprivation and oppression by applying change strategies to begin the process of achieving a just society in a global community.

Rationale: For this objective, I've posted an activity that I did in my Practice III class.  This class was designed to each us how to plan and organize in the community.  A requirement for the class was to hold a truth commission in Chattanooga, TN.  A truth commission is a forum that allows oppressed members of the community to speak out against injustice.  For our commission, human rights violations in the area of adquate housing, right to a living wage, and a right to affordable health care were addressed.
